About Us

Yadkin Valley Motor Co. has always been a family owned business since 1915.  A. F. Kilby, father of current owner, started the business.  He died in 1977. Since then his son A. L. (Bud) Kilby has owned the dealership.  Bud is a WWII veteran and joined the company the day after he returned from Military Service in 1948.  Bud's son, John Kilby is the General Manager and co-owner.  He has been at Yadkin Valley since graduating from ASU in 1974. Bud's daughter, Betty Kilby Foster is the co-office manager.  Bud's nephew, Sam Mayberry is the Service Manager. We have loyal employees who stay with us.  We have 3 employees with over 50 years here, 3 more with over 20 years, and 8 with over 10 years--the same faces are here when you come back! 

In the early days, Yadkin Valley sold New Fords, Buicks, Franklins, Overlands, Indiana Trucks, Lincoln Zephyrs and added  Mercurys starting in 1939. All Fords, Lincolns and MErcurys were kept and the others were phased out. The lightweight Fords travelled well on the muddy rural roads of Wilkes in the early years and the heavy luxurious Buicks, Franklins and Overlands did not.  We are The Oldest Existing Ford Dealership in the Carolinas--Since 1915!.  We've always treated the customer with respect and honesty as the original A F Kilby did 92 years ago.  Please click here to contact us.
